Squirrels, Jet Packs, Nanobots – and Free Fiction

Squirrels, Jet Packs, and Nanobots — oh my! What am I up to today? Laughter, amazing science, and a free Zombie Turkeys excerpt for you.

Squirrels come first.

Squirrels, Jet Packs
Malabar Squirrel from India

What do squirrels have to do with Zombie Turkeys? They both appear in my book. The zombie turkeys are on the first page, the zombie squirrels at the end. Here’s your free excerpt:

He felt great, full of energy. He ate a nut from his stores.

Then he went down his tree and out to breed with some females.

He saw a really good one with a sexy, bushy tail. As he

chased her toward her tree, a hawk swooped down and killed

him. The hawk never noticed the squirrel’s red eyes.

From Zombie Turkeys

But don’t feel badly for the poor zombie squirrel. I have another excerpt from the sequel, My Undead Mother-in-law, coming up later in the blog.

Squirrels, Jet Packs – Up Next

Let’s do jet packs first, since that’s alphabetical.

I’m posting interesting science stories and videos all the time to my Facebook page. Here’s another jet pack for you.

But I’m also a sucker for cute animals, like the following squirrel.

My Undead Mother-in-law has squirrels and jet packs–can you imagine? If you can connect the two together, I’ll give you a free copy. Just write me an email here.

Are you ready for another squirrel excerpt? This one comes from My Undead Mother-in-law.

“I wonder if the zombiism causes increased violence in

people? It certainly does for turkeys and squirrels. Did you

read the story about the zombie squirrel killing a hawk?”

“No! What happened?”

“The hawk nabbed the squirrel, as hawks normally do, but

in midair, the squirrel revived, ripped open the hawk’s belly,

bit off its leg, and fell a hundred feet to the ground, where it

scampered away unharmed. It was captured on drone video.

My Undead Mother-in-law

Finally, Nanobots

Nanobots! Beloved of science fiction writers everywhere. They can do about anything you can imagine. But what about real nanobots?

Guess what? I wrote nanobots into Paranormal Privateers. Here’s the first excerpt about them.

“They sent this saucer and picked me up. They made

some biological changes to my body through nanobots, so

I have perfect health and regeneration capabilities. Then

they spent months training me to speak and represent

them to the American people.”

From Paranormal Privateers

I’ll close for now with links to the three novels I mentioned if you’re interested. Two of the links give you free audiobook samples. But you can listen to all my books are on Audible or Amazon.

Your latest science news and book reviews are right here! Hot off the internet, let’s start with the world’s fastest animal. It’s not the cheetah. Or peregrine falcon. It’s . . .

But that’s only the first science video. I’ve got more. But first a word from our sponsor . . .

That’s right. Zombie Turkeys are sponsoring this post. Oh, and I’ve got this great new review of Oops! Tales of the Zombie Turkey Apocalypse, coming up next.

Your Latest Book Review Follows

You’d think after three oddball novels, Zombie Turkeys (How an Unknown Blogger Fought Unkillable Turkeys), My Undead Mother-In-Law (The Family Zombie with Anger Management Issues), and Paranormal Privateers, that Andy Zach would have exhausted all the comic possibilities in his world of killer zombie turkeys and superhero zombie human.

You’d be wrong.  How about flying zombie pickles? Zombie zucchini? Zombie caterpillars? (How can you tell a zombie caterpillar from a normal one? Andy Zach can tell you.)

How about being injected with zombie blood which can cure any ill, regrow any lost limb, and be quickly cured with a widely available antidote? Who needs insurance with that sort of help?     How about organizing a zombie worker union at Amazon when zombies can outperform robots? And suggest the story is based on two real people, Anthony and Ravan Jones who contribute the foreword to the book?  Or zombie residents of a nursing home taking over the place?

But all this silliness is just part of what Andy Zach has collected in Oops.  He has included other short stories by other authors like “The Story of Sound” by Olivia Smith and his own “A Phoenix Tale”   before diving into his zombie world. Then he offers a batch of stories based on his other book series featuring disabled  middle-schoolers who become superheroes,  the Secret Supers. Oh yea, there are the aliens who first appeared in Paranormal Privateers who are defeated by zombies working for the U.S. Government.  The aliens can provide you legal assistance in the form of a sexy avatar who looks exactly like Marilyn Monroe.

If you’re getting the impression that one Mr. Andy Zach has a wide and wild imagination, you are on the right track. One obvious audience for his quirky tales is the YA readership, especially for all the contemporary references like video gaming and computer lingo. But even grumpy old sixty-somethings like me can have a lot of fun with Andy’s characters, scenarios, and plots. I’m still laughing at the image of migrating flying zombie pickles.  Hard to get more original, unique, or surprising than Zach’s “Life After Life” series. Have some fun with Andy Zach in 2020!

This blog tour covers all four books in my Life After Life Chronicles.

Your first jolt comes with Zombie Turkeys. Here’ part of the review for Dab of Darkness blog:

What a deliciously silly book! If you love zombies and comedy, this zombiedy story is for you. The whole premise of zombie turkeys is just so ludicrous it makes the whole tale funny, no matter how seriously the characters take their roles. Story is suitable for the whole family. Very little blood & guts, no swearing, sweet, innocent romance.

I really enjoyed the main characters, Sam and Lisa, who work for a small newspaper in Illinois. Sam is out for the real story, thoroughly enjoying his investigative reporting. Lisa runs the little newspaper with efficiency and soon she has the entire nation demanding their news reports. Zombie turkeys are a bad problem, for sure, but they have launched this small newspaper right into the big leagues.

Review of My Undead Mother-in-law

Once again we get to visit the lives of the fantastically droll Sam and Lisa as they adjust to the life after the zombie apocalypse starts settling down. Things aren’t going so well for them as there is only so much you can report on zombie turkeys, cows, squirrels and chickens. But never fear – something interesting is just around the corner for you. At the end of the first book (SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN’T LISTENED TO IT)

This is a great book to start with if you haven’t tried any Andy Zach book before. It contains stories from both his Life After Life zombie comedy series and his superhero story Super Secrets. It also shows you Zach’s sense of humor (plus there’s one little horror story that isn’t overly gruesome). This book is great for both kids and adults and works just fine on it’s own.
